Cardinal Bertone addresses Italian Senate on papal encyclical

The papal encyclical Caritas in Veritate should be "an exalted and profound source of inspiration" to all Italian people, particularly public officials, Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone told the Italian Senate in a July 28 address. The Vatican Secretary of State spoke on an invitation from the Senate president, Renato Schifani. In his speech he compared the main themes of the new encyclical with the general thrust of an address that then-Cardinal Ratzinger delivered to the Italian Senate in 2004.
