Coptic Pope Tawadros sees growing acceptance after years of repression in Egypt

CWN Editor's Note: Coptic Orthodox Pope Tawadros met on January 23 with the editors of Egypt’s influential Al Ahram newspaper, and told them that Copts have won greater acceptance in Egypt recently, after years of marginalization. He cited in particular the visit of President Abdul al-Sisi to the Coptic cathedral in Cairo, and the president’s support for rebuilding churches that had been demolished in previous years.
