CWN Editor's Note: The Basilica of Santa Maria di Collemaggio is the site of the tomb of St. Celestine V, who resigned from the papacy in 1294. Pope Benedict XVI made a post-earthquake visit to the basilica and recalled, “I left on his tomb ... the pallium conferred upon me on the day of the inauguration of my pontificate.”
