37 senators urge Vietnam to release jailed priest

A group of US senators, led by Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA) and Sen. Sam Brownback (R-KS), urged Vietnam to release a Vietnamese priest who has spent 16 years in prison. At a 2007 trial, Father Thadeus Nguyen Van Ly was not permitted to meet with an attorney and was silenced when he attempted to speak.
