Giuseppe Profiti, the hospital’s former president, received a 1-year suspended sentence for diverting funds to renovate the apartment of Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, the Vatican’s former Secretary of State. The hospital’s treasurer, also on trial, was acquitted.
