Jubilee participants top 20-million mark
November 08, 2016
The number of pilgrims visiting Rome during the Jubilee Year of Mercy has now exceeded 20 million, the Vatican reports.
The Pontifical Council for New Evangelization, which is organizing Jubilee events, says that the number of people who have registered to pass through the Holy Doors of the Roman basilicas passed the 20-million figure last week.
The Holy Doors at three Roman basilicas will close this coming Sunday. The Holy Door at St. Peter’s basilica will remain open until the closing of the Jubilee Year on November 20.
