Colombia's president says Pope will visit next year
September 30, 2016
Colombia's President Juan Manuel Santos has announced that Pope Francis will visit the South American country sometime early next year.
The Vatican has not disclosed plans for a papal visit to Colombia. But in February, Pope Francis said that he would make a visit if negotiators were successful in completing a peace agreement between the country's government and FARC rebels. That peace accord was signed earlier this week.
President Santos said that the papal visit would last four days, and would take place during the first quarter of 2017.
