Belfast: Catholic priest named canon of Anglican cathedral

July 28, 2016

A Catholic parish priest in Belfast has been named an “ecumenical canon” of the city’s Anglican cathedral.

Father Edward O’Donnell will be able to preach at the cathedral when granted permission by the cathedral’s dean.

“Some of the other Church of Ireland cathedrals are also looking at this,” said Dean John Mann. “In certain ways, we would see it as a sort of logical step along the way of our ecumenical pilgrimage with other churches.”
