Muslims dominate, Christians rare among Syrian refugees admitted to US

May 23, 2016

All of the 499 Syrians who have been granted refugee status in the US thus far this month are Muslims, the CNSNews service reports; not a single Christian has been granted that status.

Since the beginning of the current fiscal year, the US has admitted 2,235 Syrian refugees, of whom only 10-- less than one-half of 1%-- have been Christians.

Before the start of Syria's current civil war, about 10% of the country's population was Christian. Although accurate figures are now difficult to obtain because of the continuing bloodshed and disorder, a very large proportion of the country's Christians have been forced to leave their homes.
