Vatican official arrives in Ukraine to assess humanitarian needs

Msgr. Giovanni Pietro Dal Toso, the secretary of the Pontifical Council Cor Unum, arrived in Ukraine on April 25 and met with leading prelates to assess humanitarian needs.
Msgr. Dal Taso’s visit follows a special collection in Europe’s parishes, made at the behest of Pope Francis, for humanitarian assistance for Ukraine.
The Vatican official is scheduled to visit a camp for displaced persons who have fled the fighting in eastern Ukraine.
