Pope greets support group for separated, divorced Catholics

Following his April 6 general audience, Pope Francis met in St. Peter’s Square with a support group for separate and divorced Catholics from the Diocese of Fossano, Italy.

“On January 30, Pope Francis surprised us with a telephone call and invited us to meet with him personally,” said Deacon Paolo Tassinari, who leads the group.

    The Holy Father understands that an open door and a willingness to listen is preferable to harsh statements and condemnations from autocratic Cardinals when dealing with pain and suffering. He understands "God is love"!
