Croatian archbishop confident that Cardinal Stepinac's canonization will not be delayed
March 09, 2016
The president of the Croatian Catholic bishops' conference does not expect delays in the cause for beatification of Cardinal Alojzije Stepinac.
Archbishop Zelimir Puljic of Zadar said that conversations with Pope Francis and with Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Vatican Secretary of State, left him with the clear impression that "it should not take long" to clear the route to canonization for Cardinal Stepinac.
Yesterday Pope Francis appointed five Catholic members to a commission that will work with representatives of the Serbian Orthodox Church to assess the activities of Cardinal Stepinac during World War II. Archbishop Puljic said that this commission's work, too, "should not take long."
