Extremist group disrupting Catholic church services around Las Vegas

December 11, 2015

A group of militant Protestants—recent converts from Islam—have disrupted Masses at several Catholic churches in the Las Vegas area, shouting anti-Catholic slogans.

A group called Koosha Las Vegas has sent members into churches, shouting that Catholics must repent. The Las Vegas archdiocese has reported “multiple disturbances.” Koosha Las Vegas has posted videos of its actions on the internet.

Police in Las Vegas have said that the disruptions pose no immediate physical threat to worshippers. Since they say that no laws have been broken, police have made no arrests.

We would give these converts a warmer welcome if they showed up at my parish. Come to Atlanta. See the sights. Disrupt Mass at my parish. I am an usher. I am waiting for the President of the United States to condemn this hate crime.

There are any number of venues where police decisions might have been different. Catholics need to recall that Jesus said: “if they hate you, remember they hated me before you”.

"Since they say that no laws have been broken, police have made no arrests." Right, the "right to privacy" discovered in the Constitution applies only to the right of women wanting to abort babies, not to the Constitutional right to practice one's religion.
