German cardinal, Merkel discuss refugee crisis

Cardinal Reinhard Marx, the chairman of the German Bishops’ Conference, met on September 29 with Chancellor Angela Merkel to discuss the European migrant crisis.

Cardinal Marx was joined by his Lutheran counterpart.
“The fundamental right to asylum must not be questioned,” said Cardinal Marx. “Anyone who makes an application for asylum must receive a fair and quick process. That is our demand.”
