French bishops condemn arson attack on mosque
August 27, 2015
The Bishops’ Conference of France has denounced a recent arson attack on a mosque in the southwestern French city of Auch.
The episcopal conference said in an August 25 statement that it “wishes to express its full support for the Muslim community” and “strongly condemns this cowardly and senseless act that seeks only to cause trouble and sow fear.”
Archbishop Maurice Gardès of Auch traveled to the mosque site to express his friendship with the local Muslim community, the bishops’ statement added.
