CRS leader to be part of Vatican presentation of encyclical

June 16, 2015

The Holy See Press Office has announced that Carolyn Woo, president and CEO of Catholic Relief Services, will be among the four presenters at the release of Pope Francis’s second encyclical, Laudato Si.

The press office previously announced the names of three presenters: Cardinal Peter Turkson, the president of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace; Orthodox Archbishop John Zizioulas of Pergamon, who will represent the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople; and Hans Joachim Schellnhuber, the director of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research and chairman of the German Advisory Council on Global Change.

Carolyn Woo? Isn't this the woman who is uncertain whether gay "marriage" is incompatible with the mission of CRS? And Hans Joachim Schellnhuber? I sincerely hope this isn't so or that the invitation will be rescinded. Schellnhuber is one of the architects of sustainability models that suggest that the earth's carrying capacity is less than 1 billion persons. He's like an educated and far more dangerous version of Paul Ehrlich. Can there be any doubt the direction this is all proceeding?
