Colombia's president meets with Pontiff

Pope Francis met on June 15 with Colombia’s President Juan Manuel Santos Calderon, for a discussion that centered on the peace talks aimed at ending years of civil war in the South American country.
A brief Vatican statement released after the meeting indicated that the Pope also spoke with the Colombian leader about Church-state relations, and about the prospects for stability and development in South America generally.
