Cardinal Müller to meet with group of European bishops

January 12, 2015

Cardinal Gerhard Müller, the prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, will travel to Hungary for a meeting with the presidents of the doctrinal commissions of Europe’s bishops’ conferences.

The meeting, which will take place from January 13 to 15, “indicates the desire of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith to support the local episcopates – as Pope Francis emphasizes, too - in their task of promoting and safeguarding the doctrine of the faith, taking into account the specific challenges to be tackled today in the European continent,” the Holy See Press Office announced.

Cardinal Müller’s predecessors conducted similar meetings with regional bishops seven times between 1984 and 2009.
