Pope asks prayers for success of his visit to Turkey

November 26, 2014

At the conclusion of his regular public audience on Wednesday, November 26, Pope Francis asked the faithful to pray for the success of his visit to Turkey, which begins on Friday.

The Pope will join the Orthodox Patriarch of Constantinople in celebrating the feast of St. Andrew, the patron of the Constantinople see, on November 30. He asked his audience to pray “that Peter's visit to his brother Andrew may bring fruits of peace, sincere dialogue between religions and harmony in the Turkish nation.”

As he closed his audience the Pope also sent his encouragement to Christians living in the Middle East. “Be strong and cling to the Church and to your faith,” he urged them.
