Italian bishops defend work of anti-Mafia priest

The Italian Episcopal Conference has issued a statement of support for Father Luigi Ciotti, a priest who has vowed to continue his anti-Mafia activities despite a threat from a powerful organized-crime figure.
Citing remarks made by Pope Francis in March, the bishops spoke of the “incompatibility between the Mafia and the Gospel.”
