1 priest murdered, another wounded in Phoenix

June 12, 2014

One priest has been shot and killed and another critically wounded during a burglary at Mater Misericordiae mission in Phoenix, the Arizona Republic reported.

Father Kenneth Walker was shot and killed by an intruder, apparently during an attempted robbery. Father Joseph Terra was seriously wounded.

Police have not yet identified a suspect, and are hoping that Father Terra will be able to provide evidence as he recovers.

The urban mission is staffed by priests of the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter.

Local news has only identified the deceased priest as 26 years old. That makes him Fr. Kenneth Walker, who just celebrated his 2nd anniversay as a priest this past May 19. He was a good man, a dedicated priest. This is the mission I belong to, where only the Extraordinary Form is used for all masses and all sacraments. The injured priest is Fr. Joseph Terra, the pastor, also a good man.
