New secretary for Congregation for Bishops
October 14, 2013
Pope Francis has named a Brazilian cleric, Msgr. Ilson de Jesus Montanari, to become secretary of the Congregation for Bishops. He will also be raised to the status of an archbishop.
Archbishop-elect Montanari, who has been working in the Congregation for Bishops for several years, replaces Archbishop Lorenzo Baldisseri, who in September was named general secretary of the Synod of Bishops.
