May 08, 2013
A Catholic priest was murdered in Barranquilla, Colombia, on May 6: the 4th priest to be killed in that country already this year and the 19th since 2009.
The body of Father José Antonio Bayona Valle, a priest of the Barranquilla archdiocese, was found on a village path; he had been stabbed 18 times. The archdiocese released a statement denouncing the killing and the “widespread violence that causes an alarming number of victims in this country.”
