Newtown and the Holy Innocents: the darkness at Christmas time

Columnist Mark Steyn compares the Newtown school massacre with the slaughter of the Innocents in Bethlehem at the time of Christ's birth. Evil is always present, he observes, whether or not we recognize it.
But in our time even Christians have dumped a lot of the myth while keeping the merry: Jesus, lambs, shepherds, yes; the slaughtered innocents of Bethlehem, kind of a downer.
