Pope thanks officials at Castel Gandolfo

October 01, 2012

Pope Benedict gathered with religious and civil officials at Castel Gandolfo, his summer residence, to thank them for their assistance during his time of “study, prayer, and rest” there.

“In the summer period, Castel Gandolfo is confirmed as a ‘second see’ of the Bishop of Rome, which competes with the ‘first’ in the capacity to accommodate visitors and pilgrims who have come for the Sunday Angelus prayer or for the general audiences on Wednesdays,” the Pope said.

At the conclusion of his remarks, Pope Benedict entrusted the officials and their families to the Blessed Virgin Mary, “whom we venerate in the month of October as the Queen of the Holy Rosary.”
