Spanish party platform challenges abortion "conscience clause" February 28, 2008
The electoral program of the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party includes a plan to limit the country's "conscience clause" on abortion, the newspaper ABC reports.
The platform would challenge the freedom of doctors and other medical workers to refrain from involvement in abortion and other medical procedures they regard as immoral. Spain's socialist party program also includes a plan to make emergency contraception available to all free of charge.
