Catholic Recipe: Paprika Cheese Straws
These "straws" are part of the suggested menu for New Year's Eve Midnight Menu, accompanying the game hens.
DIRECTIONS
Mix and sift flour, baking powder, and salt; cut in shortening and cheese until mixture is like coarse corn meal. Add milk; mix well. Roll pastry 1/8 inch thick; sprinkle generously with paprika; cut into strips about 3 inches long and 1/4 inch wide. Bake on greased cookie sheets at 425° for 5 to 7 minutes. Makes about 90.
