VICARIATE OF ROME
The diocese of Rome administered from the Laterna by a cardinal who is Vicar-General of His Holiness. Its jurisdiction is the city of Rome and the part called Agro Romano. Pope Paul IV in 1558 decreed that the Vicar of Rome should be a member of the Sacred College, and Pope Pius XI in 1929 withdrew the Vatican from the jurisdiction of the vicar.
