SERAPHIC BLESSING

The blessing that St. Francis of Assisi wrote down at the request of Brother Leo at Mount Alverna in 1224. It says: "May the Lord bless you and keep you. May He show His face to you and have mercy on you. May He turn His countenance to you and give you peace. May the Lord bless you, Brother Leo." It is based on the words of Yahweh to Moses (Numbers 6:22-27) and is now among the solemn blessings in Ordinary Time that a priest may give at the end of Mass.
