NAHUM
A book of the Old testament written about 660 B.C. by an author who calls himself Elkosh, or the Elcesite. The prophet was probably a Judaean. Israel had already been destroyed, Judah humbled, and King Mannasseh probably a prisoner in Assyria (II Chronicles 33). To console the Chosen People, Nahum foretells the fall of Nineveh, hence the open line, "Oracle on Nineveh, Book of the Vision of Elkosh."
