Your Term:

MALACHI

The name appears as the title of the last book of the Old Testament. Since the name means "messenger," it may mean that the author, the last of the Minor Prophets, is delivering a message from Yahweh. No one named Malachi is mentioned or known elsewhere in Scripture. It is a short book of three chapters and offers strong evidence of Yahweh's dissatisfaction with the performance of priests and the obedience of the people. It deplores among other evils divorce, marrying Gentiles, and failure to pay tithes. It was probably written in the fifth century before Christ (Malachi 1-3).
