JAIRUS

A synagogue official in Capernaum whose daughter Jesus restored to life. Jairus appealed to Jesus to visit his home and cure her. On their way a messenger from the house of the official came to report the girl's death, but Jesus, accompanied by her parents and several disciples, entered the home and ordered the child to rise. She came back to life instantly and stood up, to the amazement of those present (Luke 8:41-42, 49-56; Mark 5:22-24, 35-43).
