Applied to the sacraments when for sufficient reason they are administered conditionally. This means that the one conferring the sacrament performs the necessary ritual and intends to confer the sacrament provided the necessary conditions are present. It is customary to express this condition verbally when conferring the sacrament: e.g., "If you are capable."
