CHURCH UNITY OCTAVE

Eight days of special prayer for Christian unity, observed from January 18 to 25, i.e., closing with the feast of the conversion of St. Paul. It began in 1908 with Reverend Paul J. Francis when still an Anglo-Catholic. After he entered the Roman Catholic Church and founded the Society of the Atonement, the feast was extended by Pope Benedict XV to the universal Church in 1916.
