who's diverting what?

The glorious history of the Catholic Church is full of examples of saintly bishops who gave up their lives for the welfare of their flocks. But please tell me why, on the feast of St. Francis, we have to learn about a Franciscan bishop in Brazil who is willing to "give my life for the Sao Francisco River."
