Whispers on stem cells

By Phil Lawler ( bio - articles - email ) | Oct 13, 2004

Tony Perkins, the president of the Family Research Council, is getting a bit nervous about the rumors he hears on Capitol Hill. And sometimes they're more than rumors, he points out:

Sen. Arlen Specter (R-Pa.) was quoted in the New York Times, saying, "I don't think you have to elect Senator Kerry to have more stem cell research.... I can't give you any specifics, but I think there's a chance the president may have a different view in a second term."

This is not an argument for voting against George W. Bush. It is an argument for making sure that, if the President is re-elected, he is held strictly to the promises he has made during the campaign.
