Phil Lawler’s superb commencement address

By Dr. Jeff Mirus (bio - articles - email) | May 22, 2019

Do yourself a favor and take a little over twenty minutes to listen to Phil Lawler’s superb commencement address, given at Thomas More College of the Liberal Arts last Saturday, May 18, 2019 (linked at the bottom). Phil delivered the address immediately after receiving an honorary doctorate from the College.

You will appreciate the wit and humor of the address, and cherish its wisdom. Above all, you will learn why Phil insists that we “don’t take the soup”—when the alternative is to prefer the Truth.

Thomas More College, located in New Hampshire, features a great books program in the liberal arts, with a semester in Rome. The College is also the home of the Center for the Restoration of Christian Culture, where Phil is a Fellow.

When you open the commencement address video below, you may have to click on the speaker icon in the lower right corner of the video screen to unmute the audio. With that in mind, listen to:

Thanks for the honest, and therefore truly inspiring speech.
