thanks for the memories

Cardinal Mahony faces a deposition this week where he'll be asked about abusive priests he dealt with as bishop of the Diocese of Stockton.
Mahony has been questioned three times in cases alleging that the Stockton Diocese failed to protect two brothers from O'Grady. Tuesday's deposition involves six other alleged O'Grady victims. Mahony's lawyers say their client can offer little new information about the former priest or sexual allegations against other priests in those dioceses.
"He has literally no knowledge," said his attorney J. Michael Hennigan.
But ... but ... but I thought the reason the Los Angeles archdiocesan personnel files were sacrosanct was the formation privilege stemming from "a bishop's ecclesiastical duty to provide a lifetime of formative spiritual guidance to his priests." Curiouser and curiouser.
