a slight setback in inter-religious dialogue

A radical Islamic leader in Pakistan has reportedly condemned the country's president, Asif Ali Zardari, for "indecent gestures, filthy remarks, and repeated praise of a non-Muslim lady wearing a short skirt."

The incident in question occurred at UN headquarters in New York, where Zardari met with Gov. Sarah Palin, told reporters that he found her impressive, and-- cover the eyes of the children before you read this lurid passage-- shook her hand!

A Republican victory in the presidential contest could pose some problems for US-Pakistan relations, it seems, especially if the vice-president takes an active diplomatic role.

Unless Palin converts to Islam. Then she'd be a "Muslim lady wearing a short skirt." Probably wouldn't help much, I'm afraid.
