roll over, King Solomon

New York court has given permission for a widow to harvest sperm from the body of her deceased husband.
She said she doesn’t want his death to stand in the way of their desire to start a family.
If you think you’ve now reached the ghoulish final depot for an absurd train of logic, you’re wrong; the train is still moving. If artificial fertilization is successful, the widow in question wants a surrogate mother to bring the pregnancy to term. You understand: so that she (who’s not going to have the baby) and her husband (who’s not around to see the baby) can start a family.
One more stop: In considering this happy couple’s desire for children, you may or may not find it relevant to consider the cause of the late husband’s death: suicide.
