Pumping Irony

Tom McClintock is a serious politician, not a cartoon character or an action figure. So he's not being taken seriously in California's recall-the-governor race. Republican Party officials-- including some who call themselves conservative-- are urging McClintock to drop out, and make room for a pro-abortion, pro-gay, pro-tax, weightlifter.
McClintock doesn't see why he should step aside. It's true that if he bows out, the Terminator will probably win. But what does that accomplish?
The conservative candidate speaks:
"People often have said 'Well, McClintock you just care more about principles than you care about winning,' and what I say to that is I believe if you stick to your principles ultimately you will win," he said. "If you don't stick to your principles, what is the point of winning?"
