O'Malley to Boston?

By Fr. Wilson ( articles ) | Jun 30, 2003

Associated Press is reporting that National Catholic Reporter's Rome correspondent John Allen has told various news outlets that his sources indicate that the next Archbishop of Boston will be appointed this week, and will be Capuchin Bishop Sean O'Malley.

Personally, I think this would be wonderful. Bishop O'Malley has been in Palm Beach such a short time, but this appointment would certainly indicate that the Holy See wanted to put the ideal person in Boston, and the long-suffering Catholics of Boston deserve that. If indeed this appointment occurs, Bishop O'Malley needs all of our prayers, but Boston Catholics will have received a great sign of hope.
