no hypocrites were harmed in this war against hypocrisy

Outraged by the opposition of the Archdiocese of Washington to the District of Columbia's plans to legalize same-sex marriage, a gay rights organization called ChurchOuting.org was formed with the mission to "out" gay clerics -- and sexually incontinent hetero priests as well -- in order to intimidate the clergy into ceasing its resistance to the gay political agenda. The website even provides an Outing Form with a handy drop-down menu listing Archdiocesan clergy. Call it one-click blackmail.
Dramatic though the outing threat was meant to be, your Uncle Di expressed doubts about its earnestness. Would the KGB have exposed clandestine Communists in the Truman administration so as to denounce them as "hypocrites"? Of course not. The closet Coms were their best allies. By the same token, if it's your goal to advance acceptance of full contact sodomy, you're not going to out the most effective saboteurs of your Main Adversary, viz., the Roman Catholic Church.
For these reasons I was not surprised to see the following reassurance added at the bottom of the ChurchOuting.org webpage:
Disclaimer: The goal of this site is not to force Catholic priests out of the closet against their will. The goal of this campaign is to aggregate reports on every gay priest in the Archdiocese, so that we can work with them, one on one, helping them stand up to the the church hierarchy's stand on this important issue.
The threatened outing, in short, will occur without outing. Sounds like business as usual.
