The Lidless eye of the Boston Globe turns our way
The Boston Globe published its latest paean to Voice of the Faithful on Sunday. Amid its usual praise of the group and defense of it against all comers, there was a surprising reference to us here at Catholic World News.
A Pembroke woman, Carol McKinley has started an anti-Voice of the Faithful journal online, in which she maintains a running critique of the group as a front for liberal and even anti-Catholic organizations. Another website, Catholic World News, is hosting an online debate about the group, dominated by critics. Now perhaps I'm missing out on one of our new features, but where exactly is this online debate about VOTF on our web site?
Do they mean Off the Record? I think we've mentioned them a few times here, but there hasn't been anything near a debate about VOTF.
Or do they mean Sound Off? That's hardly an online debate. It's simply a forum for our readers to respond to what they read, much like the letters to the editor in any newspaper or magazine. Would it be fair to say that the Globe is "hosting a printed debate about the war in Iraq, dominated by critics"? I wonder how we merit the honor of being singled out among all who don't see VOTF as the saving grace of the Church. Maybe we're doing something right.
