Inspiring Bible study during Lent? Yes, and it is free.

The St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology in Steubenville, Ohio is mostly the brain child of the noted convert, Scripture scholar and popular speaker, Dr. Scott Hahn. It has grown over the years to encompass both new and pre-existing initiatives, such as Emmaus Road Publishing (and Emmaus Academic), the venerable quarterly journal Nova et Vetera, the annual academic journal Letter & Spirit, the Journey through Scripture study series, and Scott Hahn’s own video series, called Promise & Fulfillment.

The Center has created a long list of distinguished Fellows from among the sharpest tools in the shed when it comes to Scripture study. While it offers excellent programs to the rest of us, its goal is to be “a teacher of teachers”:

We want to raise up a new generation of priests who are fluent in the Bible and lay people who are biblically literate. For us, this means more than helping people to know their way around the Bible. It means equipping them to enter into the heart of the living Word of God and to be transformed and renewed by this encounter.

The St. Paul Center is well worth supporting, but during Lent this year it is offering to support you—absolutely free of charge—in deepening your own appreciation for the Word of God. Each Wednesday during Lent, starting with Ash Wednesday, the Center will post lessons from its “Journey through Scripture Bible” study program. You can stream these lessons free of charge, and you can choose either one of two multi-part programs: “The Bible and the Sacraments” or “The Bible and the Virgin Mary”.
