Meanwhile, at least one reader berated me for reminding everyone of the Divine character of the Church despite the sins of her members (in Why do Catholics speak so often of “the Church” instead of “Christ”?).

Really? I've been working for authentic renewal of the Church since 1966, and have nothing to prove when it comes to denouncing the sins of her members.

But when I read stories like this: Canadian archbishop says his faith has been shaken by abuse scandal—then I know everybody needs to hear about the Christic core of the Church even in dark times.
