For my part, I thought that we might use Lent to strengthen ourselves spiritually not only through fasting and devotion, but through Catholic intellectual exercise.

When confusion grows, I recommend Practicing apologetics upon ourselves: Five models.

Meanwhile, I hope it is not safe to say that the Church as a whole will move through Lent along rather predictable lines. But wherever any form of ideology is at work, it is like trudging through mud.
