On Monday, blogger Boethius at Fumare noticed that the USCCB's Communications Calendar listed the upcoming Call To Action slurpfest (the name & phone number of media contact Linda Pieczynski were included). On Tuesday morning it was picked up by AMDG and then Amy. By Tuesday afternoon the USCCB had slapped its administrative brow and removed the CTA listing from its calendar.

Not quite as ill-behaved as her dam, the late NCCB, the Bishops' Conference is still a very bad puppy. When left on her own, she slips collar and chain, bolts outside, and inevitably finds some foul carrion to roll in: the CTA's is only the latest carcass among many. Thank God, the ortho-blogs can give her that gentle but firm swat across the snout. With a virtual newspaper.

It's a nuisance, sure, to be obliged to take corrective measures in the first place. But fifteen years ago we'd have no recourse at all.
