Action Alert!

a grave threat to democracy in Australia

By Diogenes (articles - email) | Dec 22, 2009

Tony Abbott, the leader of Australia’s opposition Liberal party, believes that children in school should become familiar with the Bible and other “great texts that are at the core of our civilization.”

Senator Kate Lundy is horrified.

“Mr Abbott wants to take the choice away from parents and force every kid in every school to study the Bible,” the ACT Senator insisted today.

Clearly the next step for Abbott would be to set up a theocracy and revive the Spanish Inquisition.

But there’s more. Informed sources tell me that Abbott also thinks children should study Shakespeare. Which makes it obvious that he wants to raise Queen Elizabeth from the dead and restore her to the British throne.

And wait, wait! He wants them to study math, too!
