Do you feel safer now?

The Diocese of Springfield, Massachusetts, proudly announces that it has been found to be in "full compliance" with the Dallas Charter. "The ongoing efforts in parishes, schools and religious education programs to ensure that the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People is fully implemented have borne fruit," says Bishop Timothy McDonnell.

Former Bishop Thomas L. Dupre did not offer a public comment on the auditor's report. Come to think of it, Bishop Dupre hasn't offered public comments on any topic since he disappeared from public view, just prior to the district attorney's announcement that, but for the statute of limitations, he would have prosecuted Dupre on rape charges. So the former bishop is an accused child molester, and nobody knows where he is now; the diocese won't say. But your children are safe in Springfield; the diocese is fully committed to protecting children from abusers (and not vice versa). That's what the audit said, isn't it?
